FABRIC AND SIZING

The Etty Camisole pattern is available in UK sizes 6 to 24. It features a wider hem, creating a fit that is more tailored at the bust and relaxed around the waist. My aim in designing this pattern was to create a top that is both comfortable to wear and stylish in appearance. Light-weight woven fabrics like cotton, viscose/rayon, satin, and crepe are ideal for this design. The black top featured in my photos is made from viscose twill, which provides the perfect balance of weight and fluid drape

Pattern Layout

For all sizes, you can use 1.7 meters or 1.9 yards of fabric. To reduce the amount of fabric you can use 55-58 wide fabric for sizes 6-14 and only need 1 metre or 1 yard.

STEP 1 - SEW THE STRAPS

With the right sides together, fold the strap (E) in half and press. Sew down the length of the strap using a 1cm seam allowance to achieve a skinny look. Turn the strap right side out with a loop turner or safety pin and give a good press. Repeat for the other strap.

STEP 2 - MARK THE SCALLOPS
To make it easier to sew the scallop detail on the neckline, I recommend using chalk or a fabric pencil/pen to draw the stitching line which is a 1/2" seam allowance. Mark this only on the wrong side of the front-facing (C). This isn't necessary but can help achieve more even-looking scallops. It can be super tricky when sewing curves without any guide but if you feel brave you can always skip this step!

STEP 3 - SEW THE FRONT NECKLINE

With the right sides together, place the front-facing (C) on top of the front bodice (A) and sandwich the straps in between at the shoulder. Sew the armholes and neckline using a 1/2" seam allowance and take your time to pivot when sewing the curves. Then snip the seam allowance around the curves without going through the stitches to make it easier to turn.

STEP 4 - PRESS THE NECKLINE

STEP 5 - SEW THE BACK NECKLINE

With the right sides together, place the back facing (D) on top of the back bodice (B). Sew the neckline using a 1/2" seam allowance and be sure to leave two gaps at the notches so we can insert the straps later. Once done turn the facing towards the wrong side of the back bodice and press flat at the neckline

STEP 6 - ATTACH THE STRAPS TO THE BACK

With the right sides together, place the back bodice on top of the front bodice. Taking the straps from the front, feed them through the gaps we left in the back bodice making sure not to twist them. Pin them in place and sew the gaps closed

STEP 7 - FINISH THE FACINGS SEPARATELY

Next, we need to finish the front and back facing hems separately using an overlocker, zig-zag stitch, or pinking sheers, this will ensure a neat finish. Simply fold the facing away from the rest of the garment and finish the hem.

STEP 8 - SEW THE SIDE SEAMS

With the right sides together, place the front bodice on top of the back bodice. Pin all four layers together at the side seams and sew using a 1/2" seam allowance. Finish the seam with an overlocker, zig-zag stitch, or pinking sheers

STEP 9 - HEM THE TO

We're nearly at the end! All you have to do now is hem the top by folding the hem towards the wrong side by 1/2", press, and then fold again to create a double hem. Press and pin in place, then stitch along the hem.

I hope you had a great time making the Etty Camisole, and I can't wait to see your creations! I truly enjoyed designing this pattern, so keep an eye out for more pattern releases in the future! ❤
